Trip: Sailing across Atlantic Ocean from Europe to Caribbean (FULL / SOLD OUT)
Have you always dreamed of crossing the big pond that covers one fifth of the Earth’s surface? Now you have the opportunity! We are crossing the Atlantic Ocean in November-December 2022. Our Atlantic crossing starts from Canary Islands on 6th November 2022. We will sail via Cape Verde to the Caribbean Island Grenada. The actual crossing takes three weeks, but we will stay in Cape Verde for a week so altogether the trip will take ca a month. The stop gives also the possibility to stay only part of the crossing (a week from Canary Islands to Cape Verde or 2 weeks from Cape Verde to Caribbean) in case you don’t want to join the whole trip.
Lagoon 42 is a boat that suits well in offshore sailing. Moreover, we have good level of safety equipment onboard (e.g. life raft for 12 persons and so called grab bag, AIS, EPIRB, satellite phone).
What to consider:
- Skills: We will have people with different skill levels onboard and having sailing experience is not a requirement, but definitely an asset. However, you need to be interested in sailing and ability to absorb new information
- Participation: Everyone on the boat participants in the daily chores (cooking, cleaning) and sailing around the clock (in turns). We of course will guide you and help is always near – we are on a boat after all
- Timing: When you plan for your flights, it is good to reserve some buffer. Exact arrival/ departure times can be difficult to forecast as we are dependent on the weather
